Today we completed the second annual Hope Walks... We had so much fun! The day began with a short 1.2 mile walk around Normandale Lake. As I said in an earlier post, this event was "children helping children". Because of this, the walk was very geared towards kids. They had "bubble stops" "water stops" and "sticker stops" along the walking path... We also got balloons, t-shirts, bracelets, pins and bumper stickers! After the walk was finished we copt a squat (is that how you spell that?) on the hill and then spent some time listening to music, dancing, and enjoying an AWESOME BBQ... They had a special time for children where they were taught an African song and dance. They also had some fun games and activities set up that help educate the young ones on where their money was going! We also found out that there were roughly 650 walkers that had already raised about $20,000 for these children in Africa. Thank you to our family and friends who helped Sutton and Shaeffer raise $155 towards this amount (they will take donations for another couple weeks). The boys truly had a great day! Sutton was so excited. He kept saying "Mommy, we at the Hope Walk, we helping the kids?" He is only 2, but I think he has a heart for giving already!
Here are some pictures of the boys enjoying the music... When the music was over (by a good 15 minutes) and we were eating our lunch Shaeffer looked at me and pointed to the stage and said "more, more"... I think he really wanted those musicians to come back out...
