Dan Patch Days 2008

This afternoon my neighbor and I packed the Land Cruiser with 8 people- 6 kids (5 in car seats, one in a belt, plus the 2 of us) and headed to the ever popular Savage "Dan Patch Days"... This is your basic small town festival, without any rides... Well, there are about 10+ inflatable jumpy things, but no crookety old Ferris wheels or anything like that... they have food, bands etc... and "Kaptain Kirby's Train Rides" (yes they spell it like that)... This train is literally a little engine that has about 6-7 cars that are pulled behind it. The cars are made out of what seems to be 50 gallon drums... Like the metal ones, tipped on their side with a little "kid hole" cut out. In this hole is a seat and a steering wheel so the kids feel like they are driving... The drums are on wheels (obviously) and painted all different colors... They are then connected together to make a train... Here is the catch, the boys wanted to go so badly "train, train, train"... so we waited in line for 15 minutes only to realize they didn't want to sit in the chair by themselves... SO I HAD TO GET IN THE THING WITH THEM....yep, the very front car... NO JOKE... so there we are, me "single mom for the week" and my two toddlers riding along with Kirby in his make shift train... OH to top it off, the press was there taking pictures... UGH, you know I'm going to be on the front page of the Savage Pacer... DOUBLE UGH... Any ways, the boys LOVED it and that is why we do what we do, right! Needless to say, I don't have any pictures of this cute train, because the press took them all (ha, I was in the train so couldn't get a pic).

They also had a wonderful petting zoo with animals such as goats, geese, chickens, a turkey, ducks, cows, llamas, ponies, a donkey, bunnies, a huge white dog and cute little black sheep... At first Shaeffer was clinging to me with all his might, but he warmed up and was off and petting all the animals... Sutton loved it too... Here are a few pics...

Sutton not knowing which animal to pet...

OH, cute little bunnies...

They had combs and brushes all around for you to "groom" the animals... So cute...

This is a cow... of course the entire ride over Sutton was like, "see a cow, mommy" and I told him they don't usually have cows in petting zoos... BUT THEY DID... They had a calf that was a "milking cow" and this cow which was a "beefy cow"

this is a goat thinking that my camera looked a tiny bit tasty... YUMM-O Mr. Goat!
