We recently traveled to Iowa to visit Nona, Papa, and Auntie Em... It is about a 5.5- 6 hour trek down to the Quad Cities, Home of the ever famous John Deere... Well, the quote of this particular trip was "Mommy, What Daeffer Doing?" to translate "Ah, Mom, what is that gross stuff coming out of Shaeffer's mouth"... Yep, you guessed it, Shaeffer tossed his cookies, vomited, threw-up, puked, yaked, etc.. ALL OVER THE CAR on our little excursion... We were in the middle of no where and the poor little guy got VERY SICK... Neither of my boys have ever puked like this before let alone in the car-and we were on a highway with not much to see but "Old McDonald's Farm". Both Ben and I were at a loss... He had to pull off at the next exit and there we were on the side of the road stripping our baby down. We used an entire package of wipes just to clean him up. Like I said we were in the middle of no where so there wasn't a gas station or anything around. Fortunately Ben asked a passer by and there was a State Park and Camp Ground a mile and a half down the road. We made the trip down to the camp ground, got everyone all cleaned up and changed, while Ben used the water "pump" (no joke he had to pump water) to clean off the carseat. The blessing in all of this was that the camp ground had the cutest little park with no one using it that the boys were able to play in while we cleaned up the best we could. This entire process took an hour from beginning to end and did I mention we still had 2 and a half hours to go? We rode those two and a half hours with the smell of vomit on our clothes, car seat, seat belts, floor, car etc... We were excited to arrive at Nona and Papa's not only to see them, but to see their washing machine and bathtub! I think I will be smelling puke for weeks to come! BLUCKY....
PS... Note to self, ALWAYS pack extra ziplocks and paper towels when taking a road trip...
